Tax jurisdictions around the world endeavour to address the shared circumstances facing both taxpayers and governments, addressing supply chain disruptions, talent challenges, the digitisation and globalisation of the economy, the impact of climate change, and the economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Taxation is a core element of the various policy responses deployed by governments; these responses all have a notable commonality in respect of objectives and approaches.

India has focussed seizing the opportunities arising from multinational enterprises seeking to diversify their supply chains and evaluating the establishment of additional manufacturing facilities.  In recent years multiple measures, including fiscal incentives, have been provided by the Government of India and by its various States, for such new set-ups and facilities, with the intent of grabbing such opportunities for India.
